Founders Day celebration set for Sept. 6

Pellissippi State Community College will celebrate Founders Day on Friday, Sept. 6, with music, craft vendors, food trucks and more for students, faculty, staff, retirees and the community.

The Founders Day Music Festival, beginning at 6 p.m. in the Hardin Valley Campus courtyard, provides the college an opportunity to open its doors to the community for an evening of family fun and celebration.

Music acts The Fine Colombians, a Steely Dan cover band with jazz roots, The JāByrdz and Julius Blue will perform. Members of the Pellissippi State athletics teams will be introduced to the community, and Pax the Panther will be on hand for photos with guests.

Food will be available for purchase from food truck vendors that include The Crave, Geno’s Crusty Crab, FATS BBQ, Broken Saddle Craft Coffee and Lolli and BoBo’s Ice Cream Shoppe. Vendors, many of whom are graduates of Pellissippi State, will also selling a variety of items at the event.

“We look forward to saying thank you to all of those who have been a part of Pellissippi State throughout the years as we officially kick off our year of celebration,” Pellissippi State President L. Anthony Wise Jr. said. “We have a long history of serving the community from our academic offerings, workforce partnerships, Lifelong Learning courses and more. This is a celebration for us to give back to our community, visit with our alumni and convey our appreciation for all who have made Pellissippi State the great place it is.”

The event is free and open to the public. Those who attend are encouraged to bring their own lawn chairs or blankets for seating at the event.
