Help available for students with financial aid, registration questions

Advising assistance is available to students throughout the summer.Pellissippi State staff members are available throughout the summer to assist those who may be concerned about how they’ll pay for school in the fall.

Because the later-than-expected rollout of the Free Application for Federal Student Aid form, or the FAFSA, has impacted schools’ ability to compute financial aid, Tennessee has extended the FAFSA completion deadline to Aug. 1 for students who want to remain eligible for the TN Promise scholarship.

Students are encouraged to complete the FAFSA now if they have not already done so to allow for longer processing times. Those who have already completed the FAFSA and do not need to make corrections are encouraged to register for fall classes now.

“We understand how challenging it can be to apply for and understand the federal financial aid process, and this year has been particularly difficult,” Start Strong Center Director Jessica Streich said. “While we continue to face some uncertainty about fall financial aid, we are here to provide as much guidance and support as possible.”

Pellissippi State is offering admitted student events and programs throughout the summer.

  • In-person assistance is available through On-Campus Connection Orientation events where financial aid professionals will be available to answer concerns.
  • Advising appointments are also available in person or via Microsoft Teams for all degree seeking students, both full- and part-time. Appointments can be scheduled via myPellissippi or by using Navigate, and information about how to use the mobile app is available here. Students are encouraged to follow through at their scheduled appointment times to avoid complications later.

“The FAFSA delays have caused difficulties for students across the country,” said Dean of Students Travis Loveday. “But our Pellissippi State students and families are not alone in navigating this process. We want them to understand we are here for them.”

Pellissippi State financial aid and admissions professionals are available to help answer questions via email or through live chats Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Students can also visit the Hardin Valley Campus during business hours to speak in-person with a staff member.
